Tax Incentives for Switching to Wood Pellets

Heating with wood pellets saves you money and saves the planet – and you should be recognized for your efforts to heat your home responsibly and sustainably… and the government agrees! Read on to learn more about federal and state incentives that can help you make the switch to wood pellet heat.

Federal Tax Credits
The 2011 Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency (whew! say that five times fast) offers a 10% tax credit (up to $500, or a specific amount from $50-$300) when you retrofit your primary residence with a new, high efficiency wood pellet stove by December 31, 2011. The EnergyStar website has all the information you need to get your application processed.

State Programs
The Alliance for Green Heat has assembled a comprehensive list of state incentives for renewable energy and efficiency, but we wanted to make it even easier for you: Here’s a short list of programs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. If you have any questions about installation, whether a particular pellet stove qualifies for an incentive, or anything else – give us a call at 1-800-PELLETS!
